The VProf profiling package from Curtis Janssen of Sandia is available on 
Tungsten.

This version is the Sandia-distributed 0.12 version of VProf, modified
locally to support PAPI 3 and Qt 3.3.3.  One of the modifications is
the support of the VMON_FREQ environment variable that controls the
sampling rate when used with PAPI.  This install leaves the sampling
rate at the original value in VProf (1000). You'll probably want
to adjust that to a much higher value.

The documentation below has been updated for the Tungsten install.
