As I said in my original email, I have verified with tcpdump that the 
clients are correctly connecting to the server.

I am using the ipv6 patched version as available from 
http://dast.nlanr.net/projects/beacon/#contrib.

I have a new internal beacon mesh in our dev lab, with clients running 
RedHat and Solaris. These clients correctly see each other, and both are 
able to act as the central server.
