Hi -- Both of these are done now. The current release (0.9.58-4) has the
option to specify an output directory both via config file as "OUTPUTDIR"
and via the command line as --outputdir or -o. Don't include a trailing
slash on the directory you specify.

The local test version I have running as the Central Server (and the next
release I'll make in a day or two) now has the option to tell the process
to move itself to background processing (via -fork()-) on startup either
from the config file as "BACKGROUND" or via the command line as
--background or -a.

Enjoy!
