Universal Gravitation

In the 1600's, Isaac Newton suggested that every bit of matter attracts every other bit of matter. He believed that the larger the amount of matter in the objects, the greater the attraction between them. According to this idea there is a gravitational attraction between the earth and every other object in the universe. On earth we describe gravity as the pull of the earth that causes objects to have weight.
