Exhibit Integration: Modular Design


The Digital River Basin is structured as a modular system of interacting components with the landscape acting as the organizing environment for free exploration of content. Conceptually, the system is organized around three layers.

  Modular object hierarchy


Top Level

Visitor interface. Activities and experiences are constructed dynamically through selection of location, tools, etc.

 
Intermediate Leve
l
Framework for visitor interaction and activities. Contains models and codes for interaction, display management, database querying, and simulation modules.
  Bottom Level
Database of geographic data, model parameters, system status records, and configuration settings.
