Sound on Tape
You've probably heard people lamenting how politics is becoming reduced to "soundbytes." That term actually refers to the usually highly edited statements that people make on-camera during a broadcast news segment. Sound-on-tape, or "SOT" for short, also refers to the lines spoken by actors and actresses in a videotaped drama.
In this excerpt from the "Microburst Alert" story, two scientists make statements on-camera. Notice that we cutaway from the scientists seen on-camera to other footage, while retaining their audio. What they're saying has been full integrated into the movie narrative, both visual and aural.
