When does editing begin?
OK, the shooting is over and you've gathered all your video footage. You've started to decide what shots and other elements are going to go into the final program.
Welcome to editing!
When does it end?
Now you're starting to "log" your footage (see below), decide which shot goes where, how long it should last, where in the action you will "cut" to the next shot, or whether you'll indeed cut or instead use another transition, such as a "dissolve."
You're now in the thick of editing. And you'll remain there until you've finished the program, be it 30 second digital video clip or full-blown documentary.
Make no mistake editing can be hard work. But the rewards are worth the effort.
