New: Open a new canvas. A dialog box will pop up asking whether the canvas should be a Euclidean canvas or a Hyperbolic canvas. Geometry Explorer uses the Poincare model of hyperbolic geometry. For more information on hyperbolic geometry see here.
New Recording: Open a new recording window. In this window you can start a recording which will store sequences of constructions which can be played back later. For more information on recordings look here.
Open: Open a previously saved Explorer session or recording. Only files previously saved in Geometry Explorer can be opened. Geometry Explorer files are saved with tags identifying their type. Thus, when one opens a saved session (identified with the ".gex" file extension), a new Canvas will open up with the saved session. If one opens a recording (identified by the ".gre" file extension) a new Recorder window will open up with the saved recording.
Save: Save the current session to the disk.
Save As: Prompt the user for a filename and save the session to the disk.
Save As Image: Write the contents of the Canvas to an image file. Current image file types supported include BMP, EPS (Postscript), GIF, JPEG, PCX, PNG, RAS, TGA, and XBM.
Save As HTML: Allows for the saving of a file to a web page. The construction can then be accessed by others over the web by running a scaled-down version of the program as a Java applet. Consult the User Guide for more information.
Print: Print the contents of the canvas.
Close: Close the current window. If this is the last open window, this will also quit the program.
Quit: Exit the program.
